House Swift

The bird shown above was photographed by Alastair Smith on West Island of Ashmore Reef on 5th November 2003.

It was identified as a House Swift which is rarely recorded in Western Australia, and there were no known previous records for Ashmore Reef.  This record has been accepted by the Birds Australia Rarities Committee (BARC) as Case 415.
