Atlas of Australian Birds

The second Atlas of Australian Birds is a national project funded by the Natural Heritage Trust and organised by Birds Australia.  This project was initially funded from August 1998 to December 2001 but the project is continuing. The aim is to collect information on the distribution and abundance or breeding and non-breeding populations of all bird species in Australia.  The results will be compared to the first Atlas which was conducted between 1977 and 1981.
