Birds Australia Western Australia organises regular activities throughout the year.
Peregrine House
Office
Our office is located in Peregrine House at 167 Perry Lakes Drive (Northern end) in Floreat. Dedicated volunteers are on duty from 09.30 to 12.30 from Monday to Friday except public holidays. We can provide information on native bird identification, pest species and membership services. Our primary focus is on avian conservation and research and we welcome enquiries. We can be contacted by telephone on 9383 7749 or by email at mail@birdswa.com.au.
Monthly
Meetings
Monthly meetings are held on the 4th Monday of every month
(except December) at 7:30pm at the WA Ecology Centre next to our office
at Perry Lakes. Access is off Perry Lakes Drive. There is a guest
speaker at each meeting, and suggestions for future speakers are always
welcome. If the 4th Monday is a public holiday, then the meeting is usually
held on the 3rd Monday but check our Coming Events
web page.
Excursions
There are a wide range of club excursions organised ranging
from half day or full day outings on weekends, mid week walks, pelagic
seabird trips, long weekend campouts, and long range campouts for a week.
Check our Coming Events web page for the excursions
organised for the coming quarter.
Community Activities
Birds Australia Western Australia offers a range of displays, talks
and guided walks to schools, community groups and the general public.
This is available on request. Pamphlets with bird lists and locality
maps are available from the office.
Western Australian
Bird Notes
WA Bird Notes is published quarterly in early March, June, September
and December. Articles for inclusion must be submitted by the 1st
of the previous month to the office or preferably by email to the editors
Allan Burbidge (allanb99@bigpond.net.au)
and Sue Mather (sma12577@bigpond.net.au). WA
Bird Notes is sent to all Western Australian members of Birds Australia.
Sightings
Members and the general public are encouraged to report
interesting sightings of birds in Western Australia, including the outlying
areas of Christmas Island, Cocos Island and Ashmore Reef. Send your
sightings by email to sightings@iinet.net.au.
These are reported on our Sightings
web page. The most unusual sightings are summarised each quarter and reported
in WA Bird Notes.
Card
Sales
Birds Australia Western Australia produces a series of greeting
cards which we sell for $1 each. This income is a critical part of our
annual funding, so please consider purchasing these cards to support our
organisation. The cards feature outstanding artwork donated to us by some
of our members. Volunteers help to distribute the cards to other
sales outlets around the state - if you can assist us, then please contact
the office. There are plain greeting cards and cards with season's greetings
printed for Christmas and the New Year. The office also sells a small
range of books, videos and tapes. If there is a book that you would
like to purchase then contact the office. We can usually sell a book for
less than the major bookstores. Click
here for more details.
Library
The office has a good library of references, journals, books, videos
and cassettes most of which members are welcome to borrow. Click
here to download the library catalogue as a Microsoft Excel file.

Library
The office has a very good collection of bird slides and digital
images that have been donated. The slides and digital images can be borrowed
for presentations. Click here for more
details.
Projects
The strength of Birds Australia WA is its members. This
strength is used for a variety of projects for the study and protection
of birds such as Carnaby's Black-Cockatoo, Hooded Plover, Western Ground
Parrot and waders. Feral populations of corellas and Rainbow Lorikeets
are also monitored. Click here
for more details.
We thank
for their funding. Be Active Everyday.
